Spicy Stewed Apples

Ingredients

1 cup apple juice

8 Granny Smith apples peeled cored and sliced

5 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons honey (or 2 teaspoons Nature Sweet Sugar Substitute)

1 stick cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 heaped tablespoons currants

6 cloves

Description

Directions

Place the apple juice and sliced apples in a heavy saucepan with all the other ingredients and bring slowly to a boil, then turn heat down and simmer for 10 minutes until the apples are tender.

Remove the cloves prior to serving.

Delicious served hot or cold.
